Reading

Week 11
The children in the 'Hippos' group will be doing some research on the computers using our '2 clicks' page.  I have loaded the 'Hamilton Zoo' website and they will be working through tasks about the history of the zoo, the types of animals which are in the zoo, and the different jobs that people do in the zoo to make it a fully functioning community.  The children will then have theopportunity to publish their work on 'Book Creator' (an i pad app) or on a poster.  We will have children from Mr James's room coming in to support this group during their learning.  Thank you Mr James.

All children in room 16 have moved up levels in their reading over the past term and groups are now quite fluid. Thank you all for supporting their reading at home.  It has made a huge difference to their ability and most children are developing a real love for reading.   




During Reading sessions this week, the children used i pads (Comic Life app) to create responses to books they had read.  We also used the ipads to create photo documentation of the life cycle of a butterfly.  Here are some of the children's pieces of work.  A special thank you to Shavonne and Alex from Mr James's class for working with the children to create their masterpieces!  

Reading groups are especially exciting when we have opportunities to create new ideas taken from books.  This week the Tigers read 'Giant Soup', and were fortunate to have Mrs Richardson come in and make soup with the children.  They had to follow instructions and this resulted in some delicious vegetable soup.
