Mathematics

Mathematics Term 3:
We are learning about  'Probability'.  We will also be focusing on Multiplication for some of this term.

We have been learning about Capacity and the children used sand and water to determine basic measurements; looking at more, less, full, empty etc.  They needed to make estimations and then record their actual findings.  This created much discussion, lots of water and sand everywhere and great fun too!!

Week 6 and the maths groups are working well.  the children are in groups according to their ability.  At this stage it would be really helpful if you could help the children memorise basic facts; adding and subtracting to and from 10 and then 20.  This knowedge is imperative if they are to learn new strategies in Mathematics.  During a lesson, children will be working on computers, i pads, maths games, problem solving,  and practise activities, all of which support and enhnce the learning of mathematics.

Here are some photos of your children at work

This is a site we use for our planning and for resources.  There are also some wonderful activities and resources for parents to use at home.  The Families section is particularly helpful.

Maths testing will be completed this week and we will be putting children into groups according to their ability.
